Bombora is “marking a shift in wave technology” adding “oomph” to #floatingoffshorewind projects according to Rethink Energy, (published by market intelligence group Rethink Research), designed to forecast the energy landscape and investment possibilities.
The InSPIRE floating wave and wind platform project with TechnipFMC has been featured in a story following the recent partnership announcement.
The Rethink Energy ‘Key Issues’ story reports:
– through the addition of an mWave unit, the capacity of individual turbine stations could be increased
– project expense reduced by sharing transmission, mooring and development costs
-given the predictability of wave, diversifying the generation types (away from wind and solar alone) at a single project location will also reduce investor risk
They believe the opportunity for combining wave with offshore wind is big stating
…there is no reason that we couldn’t see companies like Bombora gobbling up a sizeable chunk of what could be a 75 GW addressable market.
